Due to general mental, physical and nervous exhaustion doctors have ordered Marianne Faithfull to immediately cease all work activities and rehabilitate. The treatment and recovery should last around 6 months, we all wish Marianne a speedy recuperation period and look forward to her new album release and tour in 2009.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words and support at this time.

Following the international success of her last album B EFORE T HE P OISON — arguably one of the artist's best albums—and her two previous world tours in 2004 and 2006, Marianne Faithfull has announced a series of concerts spanning Europe and the USA.

Marianne Faithfull will be joined on stage by a handful of musician friends, including the ever-present Barry Reynolds , on guitar, bass and harmonica, Joe Cang on percussion and bass, and Daniel Mintseris on piano, organ and keyboards. The singer and her musicians are proposing a brand new format that offers a fresh approach to her repertoire. With a more intimate feel and tighter sound, the new format aims above all to focus on the emotion and power of this unique artist's voice.

The tour will see Marianne Faithfull performing most of the songs that have adorned her career, with a simple guitar, percussion or piano accompaniment, as well as a number of ensemble pieces with all the musicians playing together. She will thus be creating the ideal backdrop for fully appreciating every nuance of a repertoire that has continued to grow in depth and strength over the 40-plus years of her career.

The tour repertoire will range from Come and stay with me to Crazy love , with numerous Marianne Faithfull classics featuring alongside songs never yet performed on stage, such as Spike driver blues .

2007 will also see Marianne Faithfull returning to the big screen as she takes on the main role in Sam Garbarski's film Irina Palm , in competition at the 57 th Berlin film festival.
